This occupation includes:

  • Wall and Floor Tiler (ANZSCO Code 333411
  • Roof Tiler (ANZSCO Code 333311)

Tilers are in demand across Australia, and can apply for visas allowing migration to Australia under the general skilled visa program using visa subclass 190 or 489.

In common with all general skilled visa applications tilers must secure a positive migration skills assessment before they can progress a skilled visa application with the Department of Immigration.

Tilers apply to Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) for a migration skills assessment.

To be eligible for a successful TRA migration skills assessment outcome tilers must provide evidence of:

  • A qualification comparable to the relevant Australian qualification for the nominated occupation – which for tilers is an AQF Certificate III, and
  • 3 years of full-time paid employment in the nominated occupation at the required skill level, and
  • At least 12 months of paid employment in the nominated occupation in the three years immediately before applying to TRA.

It should be noted that TRA generally considers that skilled employment arises after a qualification has been issued that is recognised as comparable to the relevant Australian qualification.

Note: If you are a tiler who intends to move to Australia and to work in your present occupation GM Skilled recommends that you also check the requirements for licensing in the State or Territory in which you will live if your visa application is successful. The migration skills assessment process does not necessarily allow you to work once you have moved to Australia. If you instruct GM Skilled we will provide guidance on the licensing requirements for your occupation.
